Pressure Assisted Toilets - A New Choice

The first question you and millions of others might ask is what are pressure assisted toilets? You may have heard the term before and are searching today to find out more or you might have stumbled upon our article by accident while searching for toilets in general.

We’ll do our best to explain exactly what these models do and give you a few basic tips on how to choose one.

Toilets have basically been the same since indoor plumbing became a fixture in homes over 100 years ago. The basic toilet we all know requires gravity and water to do the trick. The water is kept in the tank as you know and when you flush, that water along with gravity work to clear out the toilet bowl.

The tank then refills and so does the bowl partially. These toilets work well in most areas and the only change to them over the years have been the introduction of low flow toilets that were introduced within the last decade. These toilets work on the same principle but rely a little more on gravity and a little less on water.

So now it’s on to pressure assisted toilets. You won’t notice much difference between these and regular toilets at least looking from the outside. But when you open the back compartment you will immediately notice the difference. In a standard model this will be filled with water but in these models there is an inner tank. This tank is actually sealed so that when water comes in, the pressure builds up.

When the toilet is flushed it's that pressure that forces the water out. So you can imagine the difference that all the pressured water would make when cleaning out the toilet bowl as compared to just gravity pulling the water down. A common question is, is there a water pump or some other device to help build up that pressure that is required to flush? The answer is no.

These toilets simply use the pressure that comes from the water coming into your house. With this ingenious system, the pressure that builds up into the sealed tank becomes more than enough needed.

If you are looking to remodel your bathroom, we hope this article has helped you decide if this new kind of toilet is right for you. They are indeed more expensive than the regular models we have known for years but they without a doubt are better at cleaning out the bowl.

You will find many sources of discount toilets on this page.
